The EIHA’s England National Team Programme is topped-off by the Under 19 team. This team is selected from players eligible from within the U19 age group who are all registered players in the EIHA system in the current season. The team compete’s in an annual challenge game at the EIHA’s Inter-Conference Finals tournament held in May. Their match against Scotland U19’s has become a much anticipated curtain raiser for the Conference weekend and in recent years has been a very competitive, highly charged encounter between the two Nations. It is certainly a game that is not to be missed.
At heart of the annual fixture is the Frank Dempster Memorial Trophy*. This has become a much sought after trophy and typically both teams put heart and soul into making sure the old home nation rivalry is maintained on the ice.
In recent years the Home Nation’s game has also been used as a showcase opportunity for developing players to demonstrate their credentials in front of Team Great Britain selectors.
