NIHL round-up

NIHL round-up | 2-3 December

It remains tight at the top of the Planet Ice NIHL National Division after MK Lightning and Leeds Knights shared the spoils in their top-of-the-table double-header.

Both were competitive affairs, with league leaders Lightning coming from a goal behind to defeat the Knights 4-1 on Saturday. The reverse fixture at Planet Ice Leeds also resulted in a home win as the Knights came from 3-2 down to win 6-3.

Milton Keynes stay two points clear at the top, although Leeds have played three games fewer.

Peterborough Phantoms remain third in the standings after winning their only game of the weekend 5-2 at home to Sheffield Steeldogs.

Meanwhile, a four-point weekend allows Hull Seahawks to close the gap to the Phantoms and rise to 4th. They beat Raiders IHC home and away, leaving the Romford outfit down at the foot of the table.

Bristol Pitbulls had started the weekend bottom, but three points from a possible four on the road at Solway Sharks saw them move a point above Raiders IHC.

Elsewhere, Telford Tigers dropped a place to 5th, despite winning 8-4 at home to Bees IHC on Saturday. The Tigers sit on 22 competition points – two less than the Seahawks following their double gameweek.

Swindon Wildcats also climbed up two places in the standings, leapfrogging Bees IHC after a 5-3 win on the road on Sunday.
