Leeds Knights strengthened their grip on top spot in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division, thanks to another impressive four-point weekend.

The Knights started the weekend two points clear of MK Lightning, who clawed themselves level on 22 points after a 5-3 win over Swindon Wildcats on Friday night.

However, the Knights overcame Raiders IHC 6-4 on Saturday before beating them 7-2 at Planet Ice Leeds the following day to move four points ahead at the division’s summit.

Lightning, meanwhile, slipped up on Sunday away at Solway Sharks – a 4-3 victory in Scotland helping them to just their second perfect weekend of the season so far, as they travelled to Cardiff’s Vindico Arena and overcame Swindon Wildcats 6-4 the day before.

Another side that went 2/2 were Hull Seahawks. They edged Sheffield Steeldogs 3-2 on Saturday before returning home to beat Raiders IHC 10-6 in a high-scoring affair on Sunday.

The stand-out performers of the weekend were Peterborough Phantoms, who put Bristol Pitbulls to the sword with a 10-1 thrashing on Saturday night before toppling Bees IHC 5-3 the following day.

Meanwhile, it was a mixed weekend for Telford Tigers. They were beaten in overtime by Bees IHC on Saturday before bouncing back at the first attempt on Sunday, thanks to a 4-1 triumph at home against the Steeldogs.
