After a week in which the hockey community paused to remember one of their own following the tragic passing of Adam Johnson, teams from across the Planet Ice NIHL National Division and below will return to the ice this weekend.

Leeds Knights lead the division on goal difference, and they have tough back-to-back away trips to Peterborough Phantoms and Telford Tigers – both of whom start the weekend in the top five.

The Phantoms come into Saturday’s showdown of the high-flyers in positive mood after a 3-0 win at Telford in midweek. A winning result against the Knights, coupled with a win at fourth-placed Bees IHC on Sunday, could see them end the weekend top of the table, should other results go their way.

It promises to be a pivotal weekend for the Bees, whose game against Peterborough comes less than 24 hours after a trip to second-placed MK Lightning.

Milton Keynes will end their weekend with a trip to Hull Seahawks, who will be out to make amends after losing to the division’s newcomers, Solway Sharks, in their most recent fixture.

On Saturday, the Seahawks visit a Bristol Pitbulls side that start the weekend bottom of the division after Solway’s win last Saturday.

Elsewhere, Sheffield Steeldogs and Raiders IHC face each other back-to-back this weekend, kicking off at iceSheffield on Saturday evening.

Solway Sharks and Swindon Wildcats will also meet twice this weekend, with four precious competition points on the line as both teams look to start ascending the NIHL ladder.
