Another busy weekend of action kicks off tonight in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division.

It all starts with a meeting between MK Lightning and Swindon Wildcats (7:45pm start time). Victory for the hosts would see them climb level on points with Leeds Knights, although they would need to win by 10 goals or more to move above them.

The Milton Keynes-based side finish their weekend with a trip north to face Solway Sharks on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds begin the weekend at the division’s summit, and they will enjoy back-to-back games against Raiders IHC. The two teams will meet in Romford on Saturday evening before doing battle at Planet Ice Leeds the following day.

Third-placed Hull Seahawks will hope to bridge the gap to the teams above them when they visit Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday before hosting Bristol Pitbulls on Sunday.

The Seahawks will arrive in South Yorkshire in buoyant mood having been one of just three sides to enjoy a perfect four-point weekend last time out.

It will a pivotal weekend for Bees IHC as they lock horns with two of the teams hoping to end the weekend above them in the standings.

Telford Tigers, currently two points adrift in seventh, visit the Slough Ice Arena on Saturday before the Bees head to Peterborough Phantoms the following day, in what is sure to be a closely-fought affair.

Elsewhere, Swindon will enjoy a “home” game against Solway on Saturday at Cardiff’s Vindico Arena. The fixture has been moved as the Wildcats’ home rink, Swindon Link Centre, is not yet ready to host matches after sustaining significant flood damage back in September.
