NEWS: Comms officer steps away after more than six years in post

November 17, 2022

The EIHA have announced that Media & Communications officer Craig Simpson is leaving the Association this week after more than six years in the role.

Responsibility for internal comms, website and social media has been passed to the Operations Team for the time being.

Simpson formally took the post in summer 2016 having previously worked at the Association’s showpiece events such as Conference, Junior Finals and Women’s Trophy Weekend for more than a decade.

He said: “I think the time is right for me to hand on the reins and have a break from the day to day comms of the Association.

“The last couple of years in particular have been very full-on with governance changes, the pandemic and the subsequent return to play being very intensive from a comms perspective.

“I said when I took on the role that the Association does a lot of good things that people need to hear about. Over the last six odd years I would like to think we’ve tried to tell those stories as much as possible.

“I still believe the Association does a lot of good and once the organisational changes are bedded in then that will continue to be the case and I look forward to reading about the successes of the EIHA in the time to come.

“I’m grateful to the EIHA for giving me this opportunity, to the Board past and present for their support and to all clubs, players, coaches, managers, administrators and the many hockey people I’ve worked with over my time in post.

“It’s been a privilege to be part of the Association and to be involved to the extent that I have, however I look forward to cheering on from the sidelines from now on.”

The EIHA Board would like to thank Craig for his hard-work and dedication during his time with the EIHA. We are immensely grateful for all the contributions that Craig has made to keep the media and communications of the association running single-handedly and wish him all the best on his next venture.
