NEWS: Alex Green steps down from Athlete Development role
July 8, 2022
Alex Green has announced his decision to leave his post as Technical Director for the Athlete Development Programme with immediate effect. Green was one of the first appointments to the new-look coach and player development team introduced by Director, Gary Apsley, in June 2021.
Responding to Alex Green’s decision Apsley said: “I’ve known Alex for seven years or more and I know him to be a top-notch coach who brings a first class professional approach with a level of dedication, enthusiasm and energy which is hard to find in a volunteer.
“Alex created, established and delivered a player-centred development programme that is exactly what the Association needed and that was highly valued by coaches, players and their parents when it rolled-out. He earned the respect of his colleagues, peers and his team members through his application of professional standards and a strong belief in doing the right thing for the benefit of all of our participants.
“I was deeply saddened to receive his resignation but knowing him like I do I eventually had to accept his decision and provide him with our grateful thanks for all he has done for the benefit of the Association, not just as the Lead for Athlete Development but his previous work as a former Conference and England coach. I will miss him.”
Everyone who has benefitted from Alex’s skill and expertise thank him for what he has done and we wish him every success in his future roles.
The search for a replacement Lead for the Athlete Development Programme is underway.
