Welcome to the home of the Women’s National Ice Hockey League (WNIHL)
The EIHA and Women’s National Ice Hockey League (WNIHL) are delighted to confirm the team line-up and competition format for the 2025/26 season, which begins this autumn.
The WNIHL has also refreshed its division names ahead of the new season.
Following discussion at the AGM, clubs have agreed that the naming structure for the WNIHL will be as follows:
- WNIHL Elite
- WNIHL 1 North
- WNIHL 1 South
- WNIHL 2 North Valerie
- WNIHL 2 North Elizabeth
- WNIHL 2 South Valerie
- WNIHL 2 South Elizabeth
- WNIHL U16 North
- WNIHL U16 South
The AGM also confirmed promotion and relegation for the 25/26 campaign, as well as a number of new teams joining the WNIHL.
Faye Andrews, lead for the WNIHL, said:
“The name change was discussed among our clubs, and it brings the women’s game into the EIHA senior structure in its own right, aligning with the NIHL naming model for increased recognition.
The new structure is future-proofed and allows us to build on last year’s fantastic season for women’s and girls’ hockey, continuing our drive to grow the game for players, coaches, support staff, officials, women, and girls in every role.
We welcome a brand-new club, the Leeds Roses, as well as additional teams from established clubs, and we look forward to a great season for the Women’s National Ice Hockey League. Good luck to everyone involved.”
