NIHL: disciplinary updates from last week

November 5, 2022

The match penalties in Sheffield v Leeds NIHL National game on Sunday were subject to a video review as requested by the clubs. After review it is determined that Lee Hayward (Sheffield) has his match downgraded to a minor and 5+GM for slashing. Grant Cooper (Leeds) has his match penalty downgraded to a minor for roughing. Neither player is subject to a suspension and both are available to play this weekend.

Video reviews were also requested from the Peterborough v Milton Keynes game on Sunday. Bobby Chamberlain (MK) received a minor for slashing. After review this is upgraded to 5+GM for slashing but did not reach the threshold for a match penalty. As a result of this Bobby Chamberlain has reached ten penalty points and is suspended for two games.

Nathan Pollard (Peterborough) received a boarding minor in the game. After review this has been upgraded to a match penalty for an illegal check to the head and the player is suspended for three games.

An incident in NIHL South 1 between MK Thunder and Streatham was also subject to a video review request. Streatham’s Ryan Watt received a major for boarding in the third period. After video review this is upgraded to a match penalty for an illegal check to the head. Ryan Watt is therefore suspended for three games.

Invicta Mustangs’ Regan O’Neill has reached ten penalty points and is suspended for two games.

The NIHL discipline page on the website holds the list of suspensions issued, including a lengthy suspension to a player for homophobic abuse and a player for obscene gestures to the opposing bench. A post-game fighting incident in NIHL North 2 was also subject to a number of suspensions.
