NEWS: the Association looks to recruit Sport Therapists to support athletes throughout our programmes

February 2, 2022

The EIHA Education Programme is now seeking applications from a number of Sport Therapists who will be engaged to work with our coaches and athletes throughout the EIHA playing programmes.

These regionalised positions will work under the direction of the EIHA Technical Lead for Athletic Development, Alex Green, and will support the development of athletes’ performance in conjunction with EIHA registered coaching staff in the delivery of player centred development programmes.

On announcing the latest recruitment campaign, Alex Green said: “As a governing body we have recognised the need to continually grow and deliver what we do in order to meet the expectations of the members of the Association. We know that injury management plays a major part of the performance ability of all our athletes, making the avoidance of, and recovery from injury, a significant aspect of participant continuity in the sport as we move into 2022 and beyond.

“The recruitment of Sport Therapists is being aligned to the strategy recently established for the ‘Strength and Conditioning’ coaches which has already been regionally focused across the Showcase regions; the South East, South West, Midlands and North.

“Sport Therapist attendance at events across the EIHA is seen as an essential element of the Coaching & Education sections providing full on ice and off ice support to athletes and through our work with the Senior Coach Leadership team we aim to have all EIHA coaching and management staff aligned to all of the EIHA pathways within the next twelve months.”

The first major event is the Junior Showcase that will be held from April 29th to May 2nd at Ice Sheffield.
