England Under-13s enjoy successful trip to Quebec

England’s Under-13 programme returned from Quebec following a productive development trip that provided valuable experience on and off the ice. Across a full schedule of training sessions, exhibition fixtures and community activity, the group demonstrated strong progress and a positive approach to learning in a demanding environment.

The week began with an arrival skate and orientation before the players were introduced to the venue facilities and support staff. Subsequent ice sessions focused on puck movement, decision-making under pressure and transitional play. Coaches reported steady improvements each day, with the group responding well to constructive feedback and video review.

In competitive fixtures the team showed good structure without the puck and a growing confidence in possession. Goaltenders contributed with consistent performances, while the leadership group helped to maintain standards around preparation and recovery. Several players recorded their first points at this level; more importantly, the squad maintained discipline and competed together through all three zones.

Off the ice the contingent followed a clear routine covering meetings, mobility work and education modules on nutrition and matchday readiness. Players also represented the programme at a local outreach event, engaging with young fans and supporting promotional activity for the sport. The group’s conduct throughout the visit reflected well on the Association and their home clubs.

Coaches highlighted improvements in communication, line changes and situational awareness, alongside an increased willingness to make plays under pressure. The staff will now consolidate learning objectives from the trip and share individual feedback with players and parents, aligning next steps with the wider pathway. The experience in Quebec forms part of ongoing development for this age group and supports the programme’s long-term aims.

The EIHA thanks the hosts, officials, volunteers and travelling families for their support. Appreciation is also extended to the coaching and medical teams for their work across a busy schedule. Further updates for the Under-13 programme, including upcoming camps and selection information, will be communicated to clubs and posted on our channels in due course.
