EIHA Statement: Planet Ice National Ice Hockey League 2023/24 Update
The English Ice Hockey Association would like to provide an update on the ongoing 2023/24 Planet Ice National Ice Hockey League season. The EIHA continues to work closely with league representatives, member clubs and Planet Ice to ensure that the competition operates in a fair, transparent and sustainable manner.
Throughout the current season, the Association has held regular meetings with all relevant parties to review league operations, address any challenges, and support the continued development of the sport across all levels. These discussions have focused on player welfare, officiating standards, scheduling consistency and ensuring that all clubs meet the standards expected within the National Ice Hockey League structure.
The EIHA recognises the commitment of all those involved in the league — players, coaches, officials, volunteers and fans — who continue to demonstrate professionalism and dedication week after week. It is through their combined effort that the NIHL remains a strong and vital part of the domestic game.
As part of our ongoing review process, the EIHA and Planet Ice will continue to collaborate to identify areas of improvement, ensuring that facilities, competition delivery and governance align with the long-term strategy for the growth of ice hockey in England and Wales.
The Association would like to thank all participants and supporters for their continued engagement and understanding during this period of development. Further updates will be provided as the season progresses, and we remain committed to maintaining open communication with all stakeholders across the sport.
The EIHA will continue to uphold its vision of promoting and developing ice hockey in an environment that supports inclusivity, fairness and opportunity for all.
