U9 Jamboree Sheffield

The JLMC Chair, Jacqueline Pye, has just announced the date for the 2nd North & Midlands U9 Jamboree at Ice Sheffield.  Saturday 7th May 2015 is the date for your diary and all EIHA players registered as a current Under 9 player are invited to attend the “NHL” style event.  Making the announcement Jacquie said. “This is the second event for this season and I am hoping to see even more players attend than we had at our first event last August.  I know the kids will love it and we hope to have a couple of surprises too.”

Jamboree events are a big part of the EIHA’s junior development programme and the last one was hugely successful and not just for the kids but the Coaches too as one of the EIHA’s elite Coaching instructors, Pete Winn, was leading the event on the ice that day and said. “It was a great event in Sheffield and along with 150 kids we had more than 20 recently qualified Level 1 Coaches who were given responsibilities for drills and skills with senior Coaches on hand to provide mentoring and support.  This meant that Coaches were being Coached to Coach the kids.  I was thrilled with the results and hope to do more of this kind of development.”

For those that attended last time you will remember that Jacquie pooled all players and then selected players to join the specially created NHL teams. This meant that players were mixed with other players from all of the different clubs to form NHL Teams and the EIHA had commissioned special shirts with NHL team names which all the kids loved.

As part of the JLMC’s drive to improve communications directly with players and parents, for the first time players will be able to register for the Jamboree individually using the JLMC’s “TeamAPP”.  Anyone wishing to register should visit the event page here https://eihajlmc.teamapp.com/events/1141604  Simply sign-up to the App from your smartphone or PC and enrol your player.  Jacquie is also looking for volunteers to help-out on the day and volunteers are also invited to offer their services using the App too.  Jacquie said. “I am keen to make use of current forms of communication and to try and cut-down on unnecessary administration.  With the enhancements being offered by TeamApp we are now able to create attendance lists with all of the information we need without having to call on the services of Club staff which I hope will make life a little easier for our hardworking team managers and club secretaries.”

Doors open at 2pm for signing-in and shirt collection.  Fun starts on the ice at 3:15pm and runs through to 7:30pm.  Cost is just £5.00 per player payable on the day.  Closing date for registration is 2nd May 2015.  Don’t delay reserve your place today!
