The first leg of this season’s National Cup semi finals take place tonight as the battle for the first silverware reaches its knockout phase.
Swindon Wildcats host league leaders Telford Tigers at the Link Centre (7.30pm face off). Telford also finished top of the Cup qualifying table and picked second-placed Swindon as their semi final opponent.
Tigers have won three from three competitive games against Swindon – 3-2, 5-3 and most recently 8-6 just before Christmas. Swindon’s Stevie Whitfield plays his 500th game for the Wildcats tonight.

The second semi final sees Hull Pirates welcome Peterborough Phantoms to Hull Arena (7.30pm face off). The sides finished fourth and third respectively in qualifying and are currently fifth and fourth in league play.
As far as the season series goes, Hull have won two of three league games – 4-2 and 6-4 – while Peterborough have a 5-4 win on their record.
All tickets for tonight’s game are priced at just £6 and available from the Arena before faceoff.
The second leg ties will take place as follows:
Telford v Swindon at Telford Ice Rink on Wednesday January 29 at 7.45pm
Peterborough v Swindon at Planet Ice Arena, Peterborough, on Friday January 31 at 7.30pm
The National Cup Final will be played over two legs, scheduled to be completed by the end of February.
