#TeamStripes – You Make The Call – Week 9

December 1, 2017

We’ve donned the black and white stripes once more to bring you the latest edition of “You Make The Call” – brought in association with the Ice Hockey UK Referee Section who manage all referees and linesmen working the EIHA leagues.

This week’s three scenarios feature the rule that causes possibly the most interaction from supporters – a possible Too Many Men penalty at a line change.

Have a read of the three different scenarios below and using your knowledge of IIHF rulebook, casebook and EIHA in-house rules You Make The Call!

You are permitted, in fact encouraged to shout “How many?” or “Too many!” as much as you feel necessary to fully recreate a true in-game experience.

Question 1:
Red team are making a player change and both players are on the ice, the white team are in possession of the puck and shoot the puck up the boards and it strikes one of the two interchanging players and deflects off to another White player – What should the officials do?

Question 2:
Red team are making a player change and both players are on the ice, the white team are in possession of the puck and shoot the puck up the boards and it strikes one of the two interchanging players and deflects off to another red player – What should the officials do?

Question 3:
Red team are making a player change and both players are on the ice, the white team are in possession of the puck and shoot the puck up the boards and one of the two interchanging players plays the puck – What should the officials do?

We’ll be back after the weekend with the answers and rule references.  Have fun with this week’s quiz and leave us your comments on our Facebook page or message us via Twitter.  You can email whistle@eiha.co.uk if you have any rules you want put through the “You Make The Call” treatment.
