“I am extremely happy and fortunate to have been asked to be involved with the England u19s team again this season. It will be great to renew the partnership on the bench with Ryan Aldridge for the England vs Scotland game that will open the Conference Tournament.
Ryan and I have similar philosophies on the bench and with regards the development of the players we are lucky enough to coach. Ryan runs a very successful programme at Okanagan UK, with the help of Paul Kelsall (PK), who once again will be on board for the England vs Scotland fixture. PK has also done a great job at Okanagan and has great chemistry with Ryan.
An exciting development for the England programme is the development camp in Bratislava in early April. This will give a great opportunity to those that haven’t quite managed to yet make it into a GB world championship squad. For this venture I am very pleased to have Gordon Douglas (Gogs) helping me and organising the logistics for the camp in Bratislava. Having worked with Gogs for 3 years at conference tournaments, he is the best manager I’ve ever worked with.
We became friends when our kids played in the England u13s at the Quebec Peewee Hockey Tournament and since have developed a great working relationship. His attention to detail is meticulous, having organised three successful and fun, pre-conference tournaments in Europe for the Midlands teams, not to mention managing everything for the Midlands at the conference tournament itself! Those trips would not have run so smoothly, nor been as successful without Gogs.
I cannot wait to get started again on this England u19s adventure with such an exciting coaching and management team. Like I said earlier, we all subscribe to the same philosophies for developing these athletes. Let’s get going!”
