The EIHA’s JLMC are pleased to reveal the full schedule for the first Warrior Hockey UK-sponsored Spring Classic, taking place at Swindon at the end of April.

The South East Conference have confirmed their attendance in the tournament but sadly OHA Europe have had to withdraw due to National Team commitments for their players.

This leaves a seven-team event which will be played as a full round robin followed by a Grand Final.

Taking part are the U17 Conference sides of Scotland, Northern, Midlands, South East and South West plus Okanagan’s UK side and Great Britain’s Under 16s.

The action starts on the evening of Friday 27 April with two games before full days on Saturday and Sunday 28 and 29 April.  The Final is scheduled to go off at 7pm on Sunday 29th.

Matches are being played with three periods of 15 minutes, first two at running clock with the third period stop clock.

Round robin games will be scored two points for a win and one point for a draw. The two teams in first and second place in the standings after the round robin will play the Grand Final.

JLMC Chair Jacqueline Pye said: “It’s great that we were able to get South East involved – they were affected by call-ups to GB 16s but their Conference staff appreciate the development angle of the tournament so they are putting a squad together to join us.  Sadly OHA Europe had a lot of players called away to national team duty so they can’t make it this year – hopefully we will see them again in the future.

“Going with a full round robin means a lot of ice time, six games per team plus a final and two long days but worthwhile to give the Conference and GB players much-needed experience in good quality games with high standard of opponent.”

The Warrior Hockey UK-sponsored event will be free admission for spectators but there will be fundraising for the JLMC’s 2018 chosen charities – British Heart Foundation and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
