Scottish Ice Hockey, in conjunction with Ice Hockey UK is running a two day Coaching Seminar on Sat 7th & Sun 8th November at Dundee Ice Arena.

The seminar is being organised by Steven Lynch, SIH National Program Coaching Coordinator & Jim Watson, SIH Head Coach.

The theme of the seminar is “Teaching Coaches how to teach Basic Skills”.

Guest speakers for the event are:

Corey McNabb, Hockey Canada, Director of Hockey Development Programs.

Bob Caldwell, Hockey Canada, Chairman of Athletic Development Committee & Master Mentor.

The seminar will run from 9am – 4pm each day.  The majority of the weekend will be spent in classroom form with an on ice session on Sunday afternoon.

9.30 – Hockey Canada General Hockey Development Philosophy & Long term Athlete Development.

11.15 – Comfort Break.

11.30 – Teaching Coaches how to teach Skating.

13.15 – Lunch

14.00 – Teaching Coaches how to teach Skills.

16.00 – End of Day


9am – Developing Defencemen.

10.45 – Comfort break.

11am – Small Area Games.

12.45 – Comfort Break.

13.00 – Understanding Players “Real Time” in practise.

14.30 – On Ice Session.

15.45 Questions & Answers.

16.00/16.30 – End of Seminar.

The weekend will give coaches an insight into the Hockey Canada way of teaching and will benefit people who coach at LTP/U10 to Senior Level and those who run and work at Hockey Camps.

Tea, Coffee and snacks will be provided throughout the day.
