So far over 60 new officials have completed the revised EIHA Level 1 referee course – the latest intake in Sheffield last Saturday.

Head of referee training and development Joy Johnston took the lead instructor role alongside Michael Evans and Nathan Ormond to put a full house of 24 new recruits to #TeamStripes through their paces with classroom learning and practical on-ice demonstrations.

In a brief moment of downtime, Joy spoke with about the progress the Referee Section has made in the past year and what further developments are likely to follow.

The final Level 1 course of this season is at Solihull this coming Saturday, 25 March, from 10.30am.  Details can be found on the EIHA website by clicking this link.

Thank you to Joy for her time in the interview, and good luck to all new would-be officials as they start their journey on the pathway to perhaps follow Joy into the Winter Olympic gold medal game.
