The NIHL National Cup semi finalists were confirmed following last weekend’s round of matches. Qualification takes the first home game for each club against the nine others and counts that towards the Cup as well as normal league standings.
Telford Tigers were already certain of first place, but Saturday’s win over Bracknell Bees put them two points clear of Swindon Wildcats and Peterborough Phantoms who also make the final four.
The last spot was decided on Sunday as Hull Pirates’ home win over Bracknell Bees edged out Sheffield Steeldogs and put Jason Hewitt’s men into fourth place.
Under the rules agreed at the start of the season, the top seed in the semi finals – this being Telford Tigers – have the option of picking their semi final opponent. The remaining two sides will face off in the second semi final. The higher ranked side in each tie has the choice when to play their home leg.
The semi finals will be two-legged aggregate score ties and played on midweek dates in January.
We will have news of Telford’s selection and confirmed semi final dates in the next few days.
