Milton Keynes Lightning forward Liam Stewart is the NIHL National’s Player of the Month for December, an award presented in association with OddBalls.

The mid-season addition for the league newcomers has fired up their offence and helped lift Lewis Clifford’s men into the midst of the play-off race.

Stewart heads a strong class this month as the NIHL season in all divisions pass the midpoint and attention turns towards Cup Finals and playoff hockey.

In NIHL North 1, Ben Campbell becomes the second player from Whitley Warriors to win the award.  The speedy forward has turned on the style this month as his side battle for the league title with Solway Sharks and have qualified for Cup semi finals.

South Division 1 sees Jan Marcilis of the Raiders get the nod this month.  Marcilis picked up nine points in the month as Raiders won all of their games to stay in the playoff race and help the club fulfil its development role for the National division club.

Into Division 2 for the North, Altrincham Aces goalie Paul Maudsley is the December winner.  A 4&1 record in the month and wins over both Hull and Bradford, Maudsley’s performances between the pipes have helped Aces into third place in the Laidler standings and pressing the teams above them.

Finally for Division 2 in the South, December’s honours go to Taylor Romeo of Peterborough Phantoms.  Two four-point games in the division, plus stepping up to the big club on occasions too, the 18 year old has had a great month.

Congratulations to the winners, the full list of players shortlisted can be found here.  Each winner will receive an ‘Obble’ hat courtesy of our friends at OddBalls.
