NIHL: Discipline update from weekend 1/2 December

The EIHA/NIHL discipline committee have ruled on several major penalties which were assessed last weekend.

Hull Pirates’ Aaron Lyon received a match penalty for spearing in the third period of his side’s NIHL North Cup match at Murrayfield Racers on December 1.  The player is suspended for three games with five penalty points added to his record.  He has already missed the game on December 2, and will miss further games on December 8 and 9.

Brodie Jesson of Telford Tigers was given a match penalty for fighting in the third period of the NIHL North 1 game against Billingham Stars on December 1.  The player is suspended for four games for this offence with five penalty points.  This takes him to ten penalty points on the season so is suspended for a further two games under the totting up process, giving a total suspension of six games.  He has missed the game on December 2 and will miss further games on December 8, 9, 15, 16 and 22.

Liam Morris from Basingstoke Bison picked up a match penalty for head-butting in the second period of the NIHL South 1 game against Bracknell Bees on December 1.  The player is suspended for four games for this offence with five penalty points added.  This takes him beyond ten penalty points so is suspended for a further two games giving a total suspension of six games.  He has missed the game on December 2 and will further miss games on December 8, 9, 15, 16 and 22.

Widnes Wild’s Ross Jordan was assessed a match penalty for fighting in the second period of the Wild’s NIHL North 2 game against Coventry Blaze on December 2.  The player is suspended for four games with five penalty points on his record.  He will miss games on December 9, 15 and 16 as well as January 6.

Kieran Raynor of Nottingham Lions accumulated multiple major penalties in the third period of his team’s NIHL North 1 game at Whitley Warriors on December 2 including two game misconduct penalties for abuse as well as a match penalty for an obscene gesture.  The player is suspended for two games with five points on the match penalty, with an additional two games as he has passed ten penalty points.  This is a total suspension of four games, meaning he will miss games on December 9, 15, 16 and 22.

Finally the discipline committee are reviewing the post game incidents at the Whitley Warriors v Solway Sharks NIHL North 1 game on November 25.  Solway Sharks goalie Calum Hepburn has been issued with a match penalty for fighting and suspended for four games with five penalty points.  He has already missed games on December 1 and 2 and will also miss December 8 and 9.  This game is still under review and further supplementary discipline may follow.
