NIHL: Discipline update

The NIHL discipline panel have provided the following suspension updates following last week’s NIHL National games:
Brendan Baird of Basingstoke Bison received a match penalty for cross-checking in the game against Swindon Wildcats on Tuesday 27th December. This has been assessed at Tier 1 in the tariff and receives a 2-game suspension. The team were notified of the suspension on Saturday morning.
Bobby Chamberlain of Milton Keynes Lightning received a match penalty for fighting in their game against Peterborough Phantoms on Tuesday 27th December. This has been assessed at Tier 1 in the tariff and receives a 2-game suspension. As of Wednesday 28th December, Chamberlain also reached the penalty point threshold of 15 penalty points and therefore receives an extra 3-game suspension. The team were notified on Wednesday evening.
Tyler Plews of Swindon Wildcats reached the penalty point threshold of 10 penalty points as of Wednesday 28th December, and receives a subsequent 2-game suspension. The team were notified on Wednesday evening.
Deakan Fielder of Telford Tigers received a 5 + game misconduct penalty for fighting in the game against Bristol Pitbulls on Wednesday 28th December. This was subject to a video review request, and following review the penalty was upgraded to a match penalty for fighting due to fighting an unwilling combatant. This was assessed at Tier 1 in the tariff and receives a 2-game suspension. The team were notified on Saturday afternoon.
Nathan Salem of Hull Seahawks received a 2-minute minor penalty for interference in the game against Bristol Pitbulls on Thursday 29th December. A video review was requested on the play, and upon review the penalty has been upgraded to a match penalty for high sticking. This has been assessed at Tier 2 in the tariff due to using his stick in a reckless way that endangered the opponent and caused an injury to the opposing player, and therefore receives a 4-game suspension. The team were notified on Saturday afternoon.
