NEWS: Winners, winners everywhere – league titles decided at EPIHL, NIHL1, NIHL2

February 28, 2016

As the senior leagues season heads towards postseason play, three more league champions have been confirmed over the past two weekends.

First the Cardiff Fire won the NIHL2 South West title after 5-2 home win over Swindon Wildcats.  They followed that up this weekend with a 7-3 win over Bristol Pitbulls to make it 11 wins from 11 in the League this season.  It’s Cardiff’s second successive league title.  The Fire are also in the semi finals of the NIHL2 South Cup after topping their qualification group.

On Saturday, Telford Tigers defeated Bracknell Bees 7-3 to confirm the EPIHL title for a second time in three years.  Tom Watkins’ side have a 36-8 win-loss record in the league this year, and are now ten points clear of second placed MK Lightning with just four league games remaining.

Finally on Sunday, the NIHL North 1 title was won by Solway Sharks after they scored a 5-2 win at second-placed Billingham Stars.  The Sharks had already won the NIHL North Cup earlier in the season and have an impressive 21-1-2 W-L-D record from their 24 games so far.

Congratulations to everyone involved and we hope the players, staff and supporters enjoyed their success.
