This weekend sees the quarter final round of the NIHL South 2 (Wilkinson) Playoffs with ties seeded based on league positions, 1v8 2v7 3v6 4v5.  The four winners will qualify for the Wilkinson Playoff Weekend in Bracknell on 21/22 April.

Two of the quarter final ties have been affected by issues around ice time – Slough v Solent and Guildford v Bracknell – and the League Management Committee has made a decision on the first leg ties in these cases.

Slough Jets have been trying to find available ice between the closure of the Silverblades rink in Slough and the opening of the refurbished rink.  There was an attempt to secure ice in the ‘new’ rink ahead of the official opening, even if it meant playing behind closed doors as a test event, but this has not been possible.

Therefore the first leg tie has been awarded as a 0-0 tie and the second leg will be played at Solent as the decisive leg.

Guildford Phoenix were unable to secure weekend ice time for their home leg.  An offer was made to play on Wednesday evening but Bracknell were unable to accommodate the request.  Per NIHL Rule 6.2 midweek games will only be played with the agreement of both teams involved, and this applies in this case.

Following NIHL precedent the first leg tie has been awarded as a 0-0 tie and the second leg will be played at Bracknell as the decisive leg.
