NEWS: NIHL discipline update

December 29, 2018

The EIHA/NIHL discipline committee considered several major penalties from the weekend of 15/16 December and can report their decisions.

Hull Pirates’ Lee Haywood match penalty for fighting v Solway Sharks on December 16 has been quashed following review.  Similarly, from the same game Solway Sharks forward Cale Tanaka has had his match penalty for a late hit quashed following review.

Raiders’ forward Blaho Novak has had a match penalty for roughing overturned from the game against Swindon on December 16.

Invicta’s Ondrej Zosiak game misconduct for third man in vs Bracknell Bees on December 16 has been overturned.

Finally the events around the NIHL South 2 game between Peterborough Phantoms and Chelmsford Chieftains on December 15 are still under investigation – this is events on and off the ice.  Players who received a match penalty in the game – Peterborough’s Dan Lane (match for obscene gesture) and Chelmsford’s Cameron Bartlett (match for fighting) and Charlie Phillips (match for spearing and match for fighting) – are suspended pending the outcome of the review.

Details of the formalised review/request supplementary discipline process have been sent to clubs this weekend and will be published online early next week.
