The English Ice Hockey Association have challenged girls playing the sport to take advantage of the development opportunities available to them, and help the record numbers of female players grow into Conference, England and Great Britain calibre athletes.
Geoff Hemmerman, EIHA director responsible for both the England programme and the Women’s section, said today: “We have more girls than ever taking up the sport – but less seeming to want to take advantage of developing themselves.
“One sure way to help develop you as a player and find out more of what the EIHA are planning to do to develop and grow the female game – is to start by attending the Girls Development Day planned for October 26th.
“We cannot do this without the 100% buy in of female players – we already have league structures in place many of counterparts around the world do not.
“At the domestic level females play in all leagues up to and including NIHL. We have Girls U16 in both North and South, Womens Division 1 in North & South, then the Womens Premier League and Womens Elite League which are the only truly National leagues outside of the professional Elite League.”
The opportunities to develop and play for your county are immense through club -> Conference -> England -> GB
England u15 girls
GB women u16
GB women u18
None of this can even start to happen unless our female players take up the challenge and attend the development day.
While the EIHA are supporting this event and England Staff and Senior Coaches will be running and supervising the event, without the players attending the event cannot happen.
So get on the pathway let us help develop you to learn the skills that make you the best player you can be, and a player Great Britain want.
