The JLMC Chair, Jacqueline Pye, has announced the first of three special events specifically for players Under 9 years of age which will be held at Sutton’s Lammas Ice Rink on Saturday 28th January 2017.

The event is open to all EIHA players currently registered as an Under 9 player and they are invited to attend the “NHL” style event where teams will compete for the “Stanley Cup”.

Making the announcement Jacqueline said: “This is not a new idea, we have done this type of event before over the past couple of years. I know the kids will love it and as usual we hope to have a couple of surprises too.”

The event comes under the JLMC’s Stage 1 Development Programme and along with the Jamboree events these are a big part of the EIHA’s junior development programme. In the past these events have been hugely successful and not just for the kids but the Coaches too. The three events being planned by the JLMC for Spring 2017 will be no different with plans to provide coach mentoring for newly qualified Coaches who are also invited to attend the event.

Oilers win Stanley Cup at JLMC U11 TourneyFor those players and parents that attended previous events you will remember that JLMC pooled all players and then drafted (selected) players to join the specially created NHL teams. This meant that players were mixed with other players from all of the different clubs to form NHL Teams and these new teams get to wear the specially commissioned special shirts with NHL team names which all the kids love.

As part of the JLMC’s drive to improve communications directly with players and parents, players are invited to register for the events individually using the JLMC’s “TeamAPP”. Anyone wishing to register for the NHL events should apply to join the NHL Tournament Group by visiting the event page here

Simply sign-up to the App from your smartphone or PC and enrol your player. Jacqueline is also looking for volunteers to help-out on the day and volunteers are also invited to offer their services using the App too.

She said. “I am keen to make use of current forms of communication and to try and cut-down on unnecessary administration. With the enhancements being offered by TeamApp we are now able to create attendance lists with all of the information we need without having to call on the services of Club staff which I hope will make life a little easier for our hardworking team managers and club secretaries.”

Doors open at 1:30pm for signing-in and shirt collection. Fun starts on the ice at 2:30pm and runs through to 6:30pm. Cost is just £10.00 per player payable on the day (which includes snacks and drinks). Closing date for registration is Friday 27th January 2017.

There will be eight teams so places are limited. Don’t delay reserve your place today!

The provisional dates for the subsequent events are: Saturdays 11th March and 1st April 2017.
