It was another Great Day for the JLMC’s U9 “NHL All-Star” series yesterday as the Sharkes beat the Oliers 1-0 to lift the Stanley Cup.
JLMC Chair, Jacqueline Pye, said: “We’ve had a great weekend in Swindon once again and thanks must go to all of the staff and volunteers who have make this event so successful.
“I am thrilled that we had so many of the U9 players turn-out for the first NHL event at Swindon this year. It’s been fantastic.”
The NHL All-Star series has been running since January and it has taken on a life of its own. With the hugely successful Arena Series event at Nottingham a couple of weeks ago, the U9’s programme is now moving at great pace which has caught the imagination of players and clubs across the Country.
Mrs Pye is keen to see more of these events and she is thinking of making these events an integral part of the junior fixtures programme for the 2017/18 season.
For now though we are reflecting on the great events at Swindon yesterday where the 3 hours or so of ice time were put to good use with high-tempo games as well as skill development sessions for the kids taking part.
There was a number of players who were picked-out for some one-on-one tuition on skating, shooting as well as a number of the younger goalies receiving some personal attention too.
The Stage 1 Development programme moves up a notch at the start of next month with a Development Camp day which is being held at Ice Sheffield. Yet further demonstration of the collaboration between the JLMC and the ENTP. Places are limited so anyone wishing to be involved needs to register their interest on the JLMC TeamApp.
