Ice Sheffield was home to the latest JLMC Jamboree with players from around the country stepping on the ice to compete in the NHL event today.

With the Bruins, Rangers, Oilers, Kings and Sharks all battling hard showing great commitment, skills and enthusiasm to push themselves against their rivals to compete for the JLMC Stanley Cup.

In the group stages, the Rangers were amazing with four wins from four. They were followed by the Sharks, then Oilers.  The final two teams, Kings and Bruins, had a showdown game to see who would go through to the semi final to play Rangers. The game was end to end before the Bruins took control to win 7-3 to squeeze into the semi final.  However credit to Kings who fought in every game.

Before the semi finals, we had a special guest come and meet the players after being impressed with what he had seen. The players was met on the ice by none other than Great Britain captain Jonathan Phillips who brought the JLMC Stanley Cup with him to show the semi finalists what they are competing for.

In the Semi finals, Sharks controlled the game early and continued through to the final with a 5-3 win over the Oilers. But the shock was the Rangers who were excellent all day but couldn’t find a way past the Bruins netminder and Bruins squeezed through with a 1-0 win.

In the topsy-turvy final, Sharks took a lead after a great finish, the Bruins hit back with two quick fire goals, then the never say die attitude of the Sharks players kicked in. While a Bruins player was down injured, play continued and they scored the equalising goal. With the scores finely balanced at 2-2 the game looked like it was going to penalty shots, but with 20 seconds remaining a shot in the bottom left corner broke Bruins hearts and it was the Sharks who were successful winning 3-2.

An excellent comeback from the Sharks to succeed and win the Christmas NHL Jamboree.

A huge thank you to our on ice helpers – Hollinshead, Langlois, Peters, Edwards and Fraser, as well as the coaches, managers and off ice helpers.
