With the Mighty Mites Development Day just a week away, ENTP Head Coach Ben Pitchley has made a major announcement today with the allocation of the Coaching Staff for the two Mighty Mites teams.

Taking the overall lead for the day’s activities will be Mark Saunders.

Team Blue Head Coach will be Andy Brown, assisted by Dave Capps.  The Managers will be Rachel Gay, Charis Blyth and Shannon Robinson.

Team White Head Coach will be Alan Blyth, assisted by Andy Hemmings.  The Managers will be Phillipa Dowd, Eloise Pienaar-Dyke & Lee Brown.

There will additional coaches from the England and Conference programmes helping out during this event, subject to work commitments, giving the young players the best possible support throughout the day.

Coach Pitchley said: “This is now the third year we have run this event and as ever it is extremely popular with the next generation of conference players. This event sold out in just 20 minutes!

“These Mighty Mites events help ‘Inspire, Motivate and Improve’ players who have a passion for sport in general.  I hope all of the players enjoy their day, and thank you to their parents for supporting the event and to our coaches and managers for working with the Mites.

“There’s just seven more sleeps to go before the big day… ARE YOU READY?”

Charles Dacres, JLMC chair and EIHA Director for junior hockey, added: “Today we see the future of British ice hockey in the shape of the Mighty Mites. These young players are the key to our future and we need to do everything we can to ensure that they have the best start.

“We have a number of events in the pipeline so keep a look out for further details. This event sold out within 20 minutes of going live, which I think reflects the need for events such as this to help and develop our young people.

“I am also pleased that these young people get to play the curtain raiser for the England v Scotland game, which is going to be another showcase of British talent which includes players who have represented Great Britain at the recent U18 World Championships in Hungary.  Who knows one day these little mites could also be here.

“Today’s event is overseen by Ben Pitchley the England National Team Programme Head Coach.  He has assembled a team of very experienced coaches, who will put these young people through their paces.  The Mighty Mites will get to meet the England team and as a part of their pre-game masterclass they also get the skate with the players.

“I know as parents you are all very excited to see your child out there on the ice. I can remember the feeling of pride to see my little one (not so little now!) on the ice.  Your child needs your support and encouragement but be mindful that this game and these young people are having fun and haven’t made it the NHL … just yet!”

The Mighty Mites event takes place on Friday May 3rd with on and off ice development sessions, and concludes with a two-period demonstration game around the England v Scotland U19 international.  The two teams are listed below.

Everyone with the JLMC, ENTP and the Conference weekend wish the Mighty Mites every success and hope the players, parents, friends and family enjoy the whole experience.  We look forward to them being part of the Conference Weekend for many years to come.
