It’s been a busy few weeks at JLMC HQ and the Stage 1 Development news just keeps coming with the latest announcement of a full-day X-Ice Tournament for Under 9’s at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on Friday 14th April 2017.

JLMC Chair, Jacqueline Pye, has moved quickly to secure six hours of premium ice at the home of the Nottingham Panthers ahead of the Great Briatin v Poland international game.

Making the announcement Jacqueline Pye said: “I am working very closely with colleagues at Ice Hockey UK and with the resumption of the intense rivalry between the two hockey nations on 14th April there was a fantastic opportunity for our youngest and brightest stars to be sharing the day with the very best talent in the UK right now with the senior men’s team.”

She added: “It was an opportunity too great to miss and I wanted our U9’s to get the most of it too.”

The fun on the ice will start at 9:30am and go on until 3:30pm so there’s a full day available to provide maximum opportunity for the players who will be skating and competing on the fabulous main arena which should be a real treat.

In addition to the ice time, Jacqueline is hoping that the GB seniors will be able to spend a little bit of time around the kids which should make for a really exciting day for the kids and the seniors too.

As well as a Meet n Greet with the GB squad, the kids will be able to gain entry to the GB v Poland game for just £5. Face-off is at 7:30pm and the JLMC hope that parents will stay for game and make a full day of the opportunity which should inspire and encourage the kids in equal measure.

The Arena Series X-Ice Tournament will be a new type of event which will be open to both Club and “NHL” Draft teams. This means that players will be able to take part in the event regardless of whether or not their Club enters a team.

Teams will consist of 8 players + goalie and will play in a tournament with up to 20 teams 12 minute games on the buzzer so there will be plenty of ice time for each player.

Teams and Players wishing to enter the Arena Series Tournament should enter their details on the Event Page on the JLMC TeamApp after 11th March 2017.
