JLMC: development event sells out in 24 hours

December 20, 2017

The old adage of “not enough ice time” appears to be the case as the JLMC’s latest Stage 1 Development Event sells-out in under 24 hours.

Running alongside the England Women & Girls event at Ice Sheffield on Thursday 21 December Ben Pitchley and Gary Apsley were given permission by the JLMC to host a full-day camp for players in the Stage 1 age group of 8 to 12 years.

Players will be treated to a full-day of skills and drills that are all designed to create a better player either as a forward or defenceman. The biggest treat has been reserved for goalies who will take a 1 hour goalie specific session at the start of the day which is part of the National Goalie Programme format being introduced by England Head Goalie Coach, Euan King. The goalies will take to the ice with the England prospect goalies for their own development session which will be run by the England Programme’s specialist goalie coaches.

Midlands Technical Director, Reg Wilcox, will also be in attendance looking at the coaches and players as part of his wider remit in support of the JLMC.

The event attracted a huge amount of interest and there was a flurry of activity as players snapped-up the available places in a matter of hours. The event was initially over-subscribed and we have made a few changes to our plans in order to accommodate all of the players who managed to get their payment made and secured their place on the camp.

With the level of interest in this event there are plans to host another event in February which will once again run alongside the England National Team Programme day-camp. Details will be announced in the New Year and places will be limited so you are advised to make sure your TeamApp membership details are up to date.
