GB U18 WOMEN: squad named for New Year world championship quest

December 20, 2017

Great Britain Under-18 Women have named their squad for next month’s U18 World Championship Division 1 Group B in Katowice.

The six-team tournament runs from Saturday 6th to Friday 12th January 2018.

GB will come up against hosts Poland, along with Australia, China, Denmark and France.

The squad is drawn mainly from the EIHA junior and womens’ leagues, with a small number playing in Scotland and overseas.

Head coach, Cheryl Smith, said: “I think this is a very exciting squad and we are looking forward to going to Poland.

“The squad gained so much experience in November’s tournament in Spain and we took a lot from that weekend.

“A World Championship is a tough level of competition and this is a very young squad, but there is so much talent.

“It will be a tough week but the coaching staff are confident in this squad’s ability and they can’t wait to get out onto the ice.”
