Webinar 1 has been built by the newly formed strength and conditioning team to support coaches education and therefore allow them to influence their athletes during this challenging time of covid-19 .
Alex Green head of strength and conditioning went on to say ” I am extremely proud and excited to finally launch Webinar 1 after weeks of planning with the team, its been a great journey so far sharing such energy and passion with a like minded team wanting to educate coaches to influence the athletes within the EIHA to improve performance. The team around me have been phenomenal and I’m extremely fortunate to have such balance of players/ex-players of an extremely high level of Ice Hockey to highly qualified experts within the Strength and Conditioning world. We know that within the sport at the moment the cost of ice is a continued challenge for clubs whilst also facing the challenges of demand for more ice from a variety of clubs within the rinks – therefore it is critical we elevate the awareness and maximise the time, space and availability to those areas off the ice for these athletes to use.
I am also working closely with Strength and Conditioning coaches within the Ice Hockey world at elite levels and hope to have further announcements soon where we can further educate our coaches within the EIHA with their experiences within our sport.
This is absolutely just the beginning of such an exciting journey for the ‘strength and conditioning’ team, the plan is to launch Webinar 2 – ‘Application of strength and conditioning to Ice Hockey Players’ by August 1st 2020 whilst building a video library of exercises to add value to athlete development until we are in a position to deliver Seminars post covid-19 restrictions. “
