The English Ice Hockey Association are pleased to release the fixtures for the 2016/17 English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) season.
Regular season play begins on Saturday September 10 2016 and ends on Sunday March 19 2017. The opening and closing weekend fixtures are shown below, full schedules are available from EPIHL member clubs’ own media outlets.
The first league match between teams (home and away) will count towards the EPIHL Cup standings. The top four in the qualifying table progress to semi-finals that will be played midweek in January, with the Cup Final being played midweek in February. All of the knockout matches will be played over two legs.
There is a change this season that sees the playoffs return to two four-team groups to determine the Final Four heading to Coventry. The top eight sides qualify for the playoffs, with Group A featuring sides finishing 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th. Group B therefore is the teams finishing 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th in the EPIHL league table.
Playoff games will be over a two week period, and teams will play at home on one Saturday, one Sunday and one midweek date. The top two sides from each group will advance to Playoff Final Weekend on April 8/9 2017.
