The EIHA’s flagship England National Team Programme (ENTP) begin their 2018/19 season later this month with camps in Cardiff for u13, u14 and u15 teams.
This past weekend, the management team of director Geoff Hemmerman, general manager Chris Benson and head coach Ben Pitchley held a planning day with ENTP staff to plot out the year ahead.
Several of the staff had been at the IIHF High Performance Camp in Vierumaki the previous week so the England Programme will benefit from their experience and the tools and techniques rolled out there.
The session began with a review of the 17/18 season which ended with six England teams in Bratislava before starting to focus on the new season which starts in just two weeks’ time.
Cheryl Smith and Jane McClelland from the Great Britain Women’s programme were also present to discuss some exciting developments for the girls and women’s programmes in the future.
The year has been mapped out in terms of regular camps, ending with the overseas camp and games in Bratislava in April 2019 – all dates will be published on the England Team App – www.eiha.teamapp.com – in the coming days and all parents are encouraged to sign up to the App and register under the respective age groups to receive all communications from the programme by email and direct to your smart device.
England director Geoff Hemmerman said: “This was a worthwhile exercise and something we’ll look to do again in the future. Day to day communications can be done by email, text, group chat and so on, but for certain occasions the face to face element is key and this was one of those.
“The staff are excited to get the new season underway, there have been some changes to the programme but we have a strong foundation on which to build and everyone is determined to help grow the programme year on year.”
