ENTP: end of day one review

August 19, 2017

The first full day of England’s 2017 selection and development camp wrapped up around 8.30pm at Deeside Leisure Centre as the final team completed their debrief with the coaches and returned to their parents for the night.

The 130+ players across u13, u14 and u15 took part in over 12 hours of activities ranging from on-ice training, an intra-squad game, fitness testing, lectures, team meetings, and strength & conditioning work.

ENTP have managed to tweak the schedule to accommodate a goalies-only session first thing to give a soft launch to the ENTP Goalie programme which has a full day clinic next weekend in Sutton under lead goalie coach Euan King.

At the end of the first day, England GM Gary Apsley said: “From my perspective we had a few teething problems but we got through a very busy programme and things are coming together.

“The feedback on the goalie programme has been excellent – maybe we are doing something right!

“I thought the parent seminar was a revelation – Mark Anderson the EIHA safeguarding lead was fabulous and the presentation lead to a great Q&A session.

“All ENTP staff have been impressed with the support we’ve had from the venue – they have been first class and the catering faultless – we even had the kids eating soup!

“Roll on Sunday, let’s see what day two brings.”
