This weekend sees the England Under 16 Girls and the senior England women’s teams travel to Finland to take part in a week of training and international games.
The Under 16 Girls meet for a pre tournament camp at Bracknell on Saturday and both teams travel to Helsinki on Sunday.
The teams will be staying at Kissakalio, a custom built sports complex around 40 minutes from the capital. Kissakalio is a base for many Finnish sporting teams as well as elite athletes and teams from around the world.
During the day both teams will have on ice practise sessions, strength and conditioning and sporting activities as well as classroom sessions. Each evening sees both teams play challenge games.
It promises to be a week of intense training and tough hockey.
This is the 4th year the teams have been to Kissakalio following previous trips to both Canada and the Czech Republic over the last 10 years and brings to a close England Female Programme in its current format with IHUK taking over the responsibility of the U16’s Girls and creating a GB Under 16 Girls team to add to the current GB Female set up – while the EIHA will move to an England U14’s Girls
