The English Ice Hockey Association are pleased to welcome Joe Scutts on board with the National Ice Hockey League as their league statistician.

In September 2019, Joe took on the challenge of collating stats for the NIHL leagues via his website: https://nihlstats.wordpress.com/.

Last season, he expanded and was providing stats and analysis for fans, clubs and the EIHA due to the loss of Fixtures Live and the lack of having a new system available.

In March 2023, Joe announced that it had been five years since the last UK Ice Hockey book was released, and was delighted to say that he would be bringing out the NIHL Stats Annual for the 2022/23 season, with the book being available in September in digital format.

Content includes all the stats from NIHL, WNIHL and U18 junior leagues, along with season reviews from across the leagues from fans, media teams, local press and managers.

The book will be available in a digital format for free, but there will be a GoFundMe page for charitable donations upon its release, where 100% of all the money raised will be split between 4 charities.

Two of the charities were chosen by Bees Ice Hockey and Solent Devils, who have given Joe the chance to be in the position he is in now. The other two were chosen by himself and a good friend over at Swindon Wildcats.

100% of all money raised will be split across the following four charities:

• Mind
• MacMillan Cancer Support
• Young Epilepsy
• Dementia Support Hampshire & Isle of Wight.

Upon welcoming Joe to the team, NIHL general manager Haydn Hunter said “From seeing the amazing work Joe has been doing over the last few seasons, it was a no-brainer to get him on board to do what he does best.

“It’ll be great to be working with Joe in the upcoming season, and I’m sure everyone will join me in welcoming Joe into the EIHA.”
