Following on from the recent announcement that Rory Gavin had been appointed General Manager of the EIHA National Programme I am sad to inform everyone that Rory has had to reconsider his appointment due a unexpected change of focus to his business and personal life this includes his other roles within ice hockey and not just the GM role.

Following long discussions with Rory I reluctantly accepted his decision and wish him and his family well for the future.

Stepping in to replace Rory as General Manager is Gary Apsley who pushed Rory hard during the interview process and I am sure is more than capable of bringing his own passion, enthusiasm and drive to the programme and someone who I am looking forward to working with as is Head Coach Ben Pitchley

This sets the foundation for building the new National Programme for 2016/17 onwards, to this end the next task is to interview those short listed for team staff positions following on from the recent adverts that were placed for team staff.

As was stated in the previous Press release the next few weeks will be a very busy time putting together the plan and submitting to the EIHA Board for ratification prior to the conference tournament at which time we hope to be in a position to publish a 12 month look ahead for all teams and anticipated costings to the players/parents along with total overview of the programme.

Gary Apsley stated he was disappointed not to have been awarded the job first time round but Rory was a strong candidate with lots of experience so there is no shame there. I am more than happy to join the team and help mold and facilitate the programme going forward.

This coming weekend will see Ben, Gary and myself carry on the interview process for team staff and continue developing the plan
