The Conference Winter Classic returned to Sheffield this season, bringing together some of the country’s most talented U13 and U15 conference teams for an exciting weekend of competitive hockey and player development. The event provided a valuable opportunity for young players to experience high-quality games in a positive and structured environment.
Hosted at Ice Sheffield, the Winter Classic featured fast-paced fixtures designed to maximise ice time and encourage teamwork, discipline and enjoyment. The atmosphere across the weekend was outstanding, with players, parents and coaches all contributing to an event that showcased the best of junior conference hockey.
Coaches praised the standard of play and the spirit of competition throughout the weekend. For many players, this was their first taste of representing their conference team in front of larger crowds, making it an important milestone in their development journey within the EIHA pathway.
The event also gave selectors and staff from the JLMC the chance to assess emerging talent and identify players for future opportunities. The Winter Classic continues to play a vital role in supporting the growth of young athletes and promoting the values of teamwork and respect that underpin the conference programme.
The EIHA extends thanks to the organising team, officials, volunteers and the host venue for delivering another smooth and successful event. Appreciation also goes to families and supporters who travelled from across the country to cheer on the players and create such a great atmosphere.
