The Junior League Management Committee (JLMC) Chair, Jacqueline Pye, has today confirmed the Draft Picks for the NHL All-Star U9s Tournament taking place at Lammas in Sutton-in-Ashfield tomorrow afternoon (Saturday March 11).
Speaking after the draft Mrs Pye said: “It’s been a really difficult job today for all of the players as they make their final preparations for the big event tomorrow but I am hopeful that we shall see a full house with complete rosters on all teams so that we have the best possible competition for all those taking part.”
The tournament committee drew out the 7 teams to take part in the 2nd All Star Tournament of 2017 which will be hosted on the home ice of Sutton Sting.
The teams taking part are: BRUINS, CANUCKS, CAPITALS, FLAMES, PENGUINS, RANGERS and SHARKS.
For the first time this season the teams have posted full rosters with 10 players and goalie and with teams balanced with experience the organisers are expecting a really tight contest between all of the teams.
Last time out saw the final being contested between the Flames and the Rangers with the Rangers just edging it 2-1 to lift the Stanley Cup.
That was back in January and tomorrow sees the introduction of a few different teams with some new players too so there’s a whole new chapter to be written in the JLMC’s mini-Series.
Some of the hottest prospects in UK ice hockey will be showcasing their talents tomorrow and Mrs Pye is hoping for another memorable final.
She said: “I know that everyone will be bringing their very best game to Lammas tomorrow. I am looking forward to welcoming the teams and their players and hope that we tournament worthy of the title.”
Registration opens at 1:30pm and the first match face-off is at 2:30pm.
